Betty Kingsberry Obituary

Betty Kingsberry’s journey began on September 8, 1944, in South Bend, IN, where she was raised by her parents Estelle Plump-Husband and Wayman Husband.  Betty graduated from Central High School in 1962. She married Albert Kingsberry in 1968, they welcomed eight children into their family: Giselle, Sheletha, Albert, Jr, Sheila, Zina, Hope, Gladys, Keith and added Rafaela to the family to 1976  to make it complete. Betty’s passion for nursing led her to pursue her License of Vocational Nursing in South Bend, IN.   The family later relocated to Chino, CA in 1976.  Betty furthered her education by obtaining her License as Psychiatric Technician in 1978 from Mount San Antonio College. She didn’t stop there; she continued on to achieve her Register Nurse License in 1986.  Betty dedicated over 35 years of service at Lanterman Developmental Center in Pomona, CA.

In 1977, Betty was informed about a church in Pomona called New Gethsemane COGIC.  She quickly made arrangements for her children to attend and become active in the youth department, under the leadership of then Elder Raymond and Sister Anita Watts. Betty soon followed, joined, saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. Throughout her membership, Betty was an active member of New Gethsemane COGIC, later known as New Direction COGIC, starting 1977.  She served on the usher board, taught Sunday School, and was licensed as an Evangelist under Mother Barbara McCoo-Lewis.  Betty’s unwavering commitment and service elevated her to become the Mother of the church in 2011.

In 2019, Betty moved to Fontana with family, and in 2024, to Rialto which became her final home.

Betty was known for her inspiring spirit and welcoming home. Studebaker St. from 1968 to 1975 was the place to be.  Her beautiful smiles and infectious laughter along with her loving nature, will be deeply missed. She was smart, kind and FINE; a great healthcare provider who loved her family and friends dearly.  Her passion for caring for others went beyond healthcare.  Betty heart to servitude was extended to family, friends, children ministry, and her Pastor and wife.

Betty is now with our Heavenly Father and family leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a growing family.

At 8:57PM on the evening of April 1, 2024, Mother Betty Jean Kingsberry departed this earthly life and moved to her heavenly mansion with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She will be united with her loved ones in heaven.  Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Wayman and Estelle Husband, her husband Albert Kingsberry, and her siblings: Nellie Husband, Martha Ann Wade, Joseph Husband, Mary Watkins, as well as her eldest granddaughter Myesha Kingsberry.

She leaves to mourn her departure a loving legacy of family, siblings: Elizabeth Howell, South Bend, IN, George(Alberta), Florida, Wayman (Gayle), South Bend, IN, Barbara Tucker, Phoenix, AZ, James (Dr. Rosalind-Ellis), South Bend, IN, Rex (Angela), Detroit, MI, Ruth Martin, Kansas, MO, Victoria (Richard) McGee, Kansas, MO.  She is also survived by her eight children; Giselle, Atlanta,  Sheleta, Victorville,  Albert Kingsberry Jr,(Alice) Victorville,  Sheila Mason (Deryk), Rialto, Zina McClaurin, Pennsylvania,  Hope Kingsberry, Moreno Valley, Gladys Perkins, Redlands, and Keith Kingsberry (Charyce), Los Angeles, Rafaela Sanders (Dennis) Long Beach; nine grandchildren: Ronnelle Thornton, Talyah Reynolds, Ebonee Mason, Hope Reynolds, Keith Verdon-Grant, Shanita Tillman, Deryk Mason, and Savannah Kingsberry; and twenty-three great-grandchildren, and a host of friends, sons and daughters of New Direction COGIC.  Mother Kingsberry knew that nothing was too hard for God and that God hears and answers our prayers of faith.  Most importantly, she encouraged everyone to walk by faith, not by sight.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
